Marc Seelinger, Senior PWS – Founder
Marc is our founder, director, and lead instructor. He has over 30 years of professional wetlands experience stemming from a distinguished career as an environmental consultant. He has worked on large and small wetland projects around the country and a few overseas. His primary focus has been on wetland assessment, delineation, and design.
Marc is the primary author of most of our wetland courses offered. He brings to the classroom a wealth of “real-world” experiences that he is happy to share with his students. He has many stories from the field that demonstrate the practical side of wetlands work.
Marc’s passion has always been teaching. He loves to see students learn a new plant, understand a hydric soil classification or envision a new wetland system design.

Walt Milowic – Senior Instructor
Walt graduated from the University of Rochester in 1977 with a degree in Geomechanics. Upon graduation, he received his Naval Aviator wings and flew as a C-130 pilot and flight instructor accumulating over 6000 hours of flight time. After a distinguished career, Walt took early retirement in 1994 as part of the military’s Troops to Teachers program. That same year, he completed a B.A. program in Education and began a 20-year teaching career in computers, science, and elementary education.
Joining the Swamp School in 2014, Walt has now been teaching Wetland Delineation and Certification training for over nine years. He brings a wealth of knowledge in geology and soils and has worked with hundreds of wetland delineation students assisting them with their online training programs as well as helping with classroom workshops and field training. He has also been active in the creation of new online courses and updating current courses to keep up with changes in wetland laws and regulations.
In his time away from Swamp School he is active in many church activities including choir and Habitat for Humanity as well as spending as much time as he can playing guitar with his band, playing volleyball, and woodworking.
Lori Reese – Instructor
Lori Reese has worked with the Swamp School since 2017 in the capacity of instructor and course creator. Lori has been instrumental in creating several classes with the Swamp School. She continues to update/create courses for 2023.
Lori has had multiple careers in addition to the Swamp School. She went to school and studied Chemistry at the University of Idaho and received a Bachelor of Technology from that school. As part of that degree, she also attained a minor in math. After Idaho, she became a project manager for GE Semiconductor in Research Triangle Park, NC. While with GE she pursued her MBA from Meredith College from which she graduated in 1988.
She was a stay-at-home mom for nine years before going into teaching. She received her teaching degree from NC Central University and primarily taught middle school science at a Catholic School for 17 years.
Lori loves to play cards, knit, and read in her spare time.
Greg Price
With over three decades of environmental consulting experience in North Carolina, Greg Price has established himself as an expert in the field. His career spans two decades with key state departments, including the NC Department of Transportation, the Division of Water Quality, and the Division of Environmental Management. Additionally, he spent a decade as a private environmental consultant.
Mr. Price’s expertise is extensive and includes preparing Clean Water Act Sections 404 and 401 Water Quality permit applications, producing and reviewing a wide range of environmental documents, and conducting detailed natural resources investigations. His work also involves ambient water quality and stormwater monitoring, as well as stream biological assessments.
Beyond his consulting work, Greg has dedicated 20 years to academia as a part-time college instructor, teaching courses in General Biology, Environmental Science, Botany, Natural Resources Assessment, and Ecology.
Greg holds both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Appalachian State University. He furthered his education with an Advanced Certificate in Native Plants from the NC Botanical Garden, which he received with honors in August 2022. He retired in October 2023, last serving as the Environmental Program Supervisor at NCDOT Division 6 in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Mr. Price’s professional accolades include being a licensed Professional Wetland Scientist since 2003 and a NC Certified Environmental Educator since 2001.
Reina Kornmayer
Reina is an accomplished professional with a robust interdisciplinary background encompassing the natural sciences, forensic studies, and social sciences. She initiated her academic pursuits at the University of North Carolina Asheville, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2016. Furthering her education, Reina obtained a Master of Arts in Anthropology from NC State University, specializing in bioarchaeology, forensic anthropology, and zooarchaeology.
Her scholarly work is complemented by practical experience in medicolegal investigations, attained through a collaborative role with a medical examiner. This experience has provided her with a profound understanding of death investigations in a forensic context.
Reina’s dedication to the animal kingdom is evident through her extensive experience as an animal keeper. Her tenure in zoos, museums, and nature centers has seen her care for a diverse array of species, showcasing her commitment to animal welfare and conservation.
In the realm of academia, Reina has demonstrated her pedagogical skills as a professor in forensic anthropology at Duke University’s Talent Identification Program. She has also contributed to curriculum development by creating and leading a pioneering course at Elon University, titled “Introduction to Anthrozoology: The Anthropology of Human-Animal Interactions.”
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Reina engages in educational outreach through the UNC Morehead Planetarium and Science Center’s IMPACTS program. Here, she develops and disseminates science-based activities to promote scientific literacy across North Carolina.
In moments of respite, Reina indulges in her love for literature, creative writing, and the arts. An aficionado of classic cinema, she enjoys these pastimes in the company of her cherished animal companions and amidst an ever-expanding collection of botanical specimens.
